Magic Realism Studyby *Tremlin

Traditional Art / Paintings / Abstract

Remember when I said I was doing magic realism in art class? Well, here's the result of that. This was finished months ago, but my instructor would just not let me have it XD Been in two art shows now, I think; didn't win anything but it still got some attention

I was considering drawing mutant flowers or something, but it wasn't working, so I started to draw a wyvern on the corner of my paper and this whole thing started. The concept comes from the idea that plants are belived to have life and can communicate.

The red one that is in the air was my first design of these flower wyvern things, which I light scanned onto water color paper. After that I just took a bunch of my favorite flowers and came up with the rest. Flowers used for designs (from top to bottom): daisy, rose, tiger lily, white spider lily, and pink spider lily.

I had a lot of fun designing these guys, so I'm going to do some more as a little side project. I have all of these flower pictures now, so I won't have any problem with refs xD

Sorry about the crummy quality. The thing is matted and hung on my wall now (can't take it down) so it was hard to get a good picture >.> Oh, and I had no idea what category to put this under (no magic realsim), so it's abstract xD

Done with watercolors and white gouche.

I love the wyvern flower theme you did for this though, it wonderful! Its like they're dancing to the sound of an unknown tune.
